WGLZ announcer Brooke Scopel interviews WTAE photographer T.J. Haught

on December Friday, the 6th Dj Brooke Scopel interview WTAE photographer and alumni of west liberty T.J. Haught. T.J. graduated from West Liberty University in 1999  then went into the field of broadcasting. During the interview, T.J. answered many questions about his experiences and how and where his career has taken him.

When asked what it was like working at WTAE he explained how the news business was crazy. The reason is that he never knows what he is doing from day to day. He compares the news business to a desk job to explain how different his job is. T.J. continues about how the job requires people to be flexible and willing to work in multiple types of situations, good and bad.

an interesting question TJ was asked was “what made you chose to go into broadcasting”. He says that a late Dr. Graydon “Gray” Williamson is what influenced him to go into communications.

one of the craziest things T.J. has ever experienced during his time in broadcasting was the 9/11 attacks. he talks about how he and a WTOV reporter at the time Mark Zinni went up to the Pittsburgh airport for 12 hours straight.

he does mention good things such as broadcasting three super bowls, three Stanly cup finals, and tons of football games. T.J. has also met and interviewed Michale Obama as her husband was running for his first term. another thing TJ has covered is when Hines Ward was on dancing with the stars. and was present when he won on the show.
