WGLZ Announcer Brooke Scopel interviews Professional actor and theater appreciation teacher Shelby Garrett

Friday, November 15 WGLZ announcer Brooke scopel conducted an interview on air with Professional actor and theater appreciation teacher Shelby Garrett.

Shelby Garrett was a four-year student at Wright State University and majored in theatre. graduated from WSU in 2008. She has been in many plays and movies. One of the biggest reasons she became a professional actress is when growing up she loved make-believe and playing characters.  

Since Shelby Garrett has been all over the U.S. but Shelby’s favorite place she has lived so far is in Chicago, Illinois. a few of the reasons she loves Chicago so much is because they do experimental theatre she calls “underground theatre”.  At the moment she is living in Pittsburgh with her boyfriend.

 She has also directed mama mia at the strand theatre (2019) in and most recently the foreigner at west liberty’s kelly theatre. during the foreigner, she explained how hard one of the funniest scenes was to get down because the actors had to mirror each other perfectly.

we also talked about Shelby’s family live. she grew up in a very creative family. her whole family also here on West Libertys campus, her father is Patrick Garrett is the music educator, her mother is the piano player, and her brother is up here working on his second degree. Shelby jokes that her family follows each other.

during the interview, Shelby says her favorite job has to be here at west liberty university.
