Lanie Lynch was born and raised in Finleyville, Pennsylvania. In her small town just outside of Pittsburgh, Lanie attended Thomas Jefferson High School. There she took her first public relations class that ultimately led her to choose a communications related major at West Liberty.
Lanie is currently a junior at West Liberty where she is pursuing a bachelor’s in broadcasting. Her aspirations after graduation are to become a news anchor. She hopes to start at a local station in either Wheeling, West Virginia, or Stuebenville, Ohio. After a few years, Lanie’s goal is to move into a bigger market that would eventually lead her to working in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania!
Outside of school, Lanie enjoys dancing in her free time. Currently, Lanie works as the university’s dance team coach and captain. She has held this role for two years and hopes to continue to do so until her graduation. Lanie also enjoys hiking, and utilizes West Virginia’s beautiful scenery to go on weekend hikes throughout the area. She is training to attempt a “through hike” of the Appalachain Trail in a few years. Finally, Lanie enjoys cooking for her friends and family. She currently is working on perfecting her eggs benedict recipe because breakfast is her favorite type of food.
To better develop her voice in media, Lanie anticipates starting off as a field journalist to gain on the job experience in her field. In the meantime, tune into Newsline 14 every Wednesday at 4 p.m. to watch her anchor the school news!
