West Liberty University sophomore Walker Polivka was recently named as a recipient of the Abe Voron Award. Awarded through the Broadcast Education Association, Walker will receive a $3,000 scholarship for the 2018-19 school year. Polivka was one of only nine students from seven different campuses nationally to be awarded a scholarship after taking part in the association’s 2018-2019 competition. The winners were selected by Peter Orlik and the BEA Scholarship Committee at its November meeting in Washington DC.

Polivka is currently the general manager of WGLZ and has a weekly radio show on Thursdays at 4:00 PM. He plans to continue in the broadcasting field after commencement, working either behind the scene or on-air. WGLZ congratulates Walker on his scholarship and looks forward to what his future holds for him.
