Summer Orientation and Registration Events and Resources

Welcome to the Hilltop!

New Student Orientation and Registration offers an opportunity for all first time freshmen and their parents/guardians to attend various informational sessions, meet with faculty and staff, and to finalize arrangements with various offices on campus (registration, financial aid, housing, and the learning and student development center).

In an effort to still provide all of the information and opportunities to interact directly with our staff, while still adhering to COVID guidance and guidelines, we have several steps in place for parents and students.  The safety of all members of our campus community is the upmost importance to us all.  In order to keep all members as safe as possible, we will have smaller groups on campus for events, and will need to limit guests to 2 guests per student.  If you have questions or need any assistance, you can email us at orientation@westliberty.edu.  If we cannot assist, we will be sure to get you directly to the person who can assist you!

Register for an Event

You can register for the event through our Online Registration.  For Summer 2022, we are offering both on campus events and a virtual option for those unable to come to campus.  We encourage you to attend an on campus event to get the full experience offered by our Summer Orientation and Registration!

Attending an On Campus Event

Our on campus events will begin with registering at College Hall.  Parking will be available behind the ASRC building near College Hall.  We will have directional signs and staff available to direct you on the day of your event.  If you have any mobility concerns, we will have a shuttle available at the event.  If you have questions, please feel free to email orientation@westliberty.edu.  Below is a schedule of sessions for the event, along with information for each session:

  • 8:00am – 8:45am: Registration
  • 8:45am – 9:00am: Welcome Session
  • 9:00am – 11:00am: Concurrent Parent/Student Sessions
  • 11:00am – 12:00pm: Faculty Session
  • 12:00pm – 1:00pm: Lunch
  • 1:00pm – 3:00pm: Appointments/Checklist Items

The Welcome Session will offer a brief greeting, a review the schedule and plans for the day, and some reminders to maximize your experience for the day.

Parent Sessions are intended for parents to meet members of our Enrollment and Student Services staff.  There are two separate sessions: one focusing on enrollment services, and a second on student services.  Parents will be located in one area, and the staff will move between the two areas to present.  University staff in attendance at the Parent Sessions will include:

  • Scott Cook, Vice President of Student Services/Registrar
  • Marcella Snyder, Executive Director of Housing & Student Life
  • Katie Cooper, Director of Financial Aid and the Enrollment Services Center
  • Christy Bennington, Director of Student Health Services
  • Chris McPherson, Director of the Learning & Student Development Center

Student Sessions are intended for students to meet some of our Enrollment and Student Services staff and student leaders.  In the Enrollment Services session, students will learn how to navigate their WINS (student) account, schedule classes for future semesters, review their course schedule for fall, and access their emails.  The Student Services session will offer the opportunity to ask questions, gain insight from current student leaders, and meet your fellow future Hilltoppers!  University staff and student leaders in attendance at the Student Sessions will include:

  • Zach Rhodes, Admissions Counselor
  • Aaron Kuhn, Admissions Counselor
  • Michelle Filberto, Admissions Event Coordinator
  • Kate Billings, Director of Student Activities/Title IX Coordinator
  • Camille Irvin, Area Coordinator for Housing & Residence Life
  • Various student leaders

Faculty Sessions are intended for students and parents to attend.  The Dean of the College for your program of study, as well as faculty from within the different programs will be available to discuss their specific programs, and to answer questions you may have about courses, faculty expectations, or the field of study in general.  Each College and Program of Study manages this session differently.  You may meet with all members of the faculty and fellow students, or they may split the group into smaller groups by program.  This is a great opportunity to meet faculty for your programs.  If you are unable to attend on a date for your College, you can attend the open date, where we work to have at least one faculty or Dean from each College.

After a wonderful complimentary lunch in the Marketplace, the afternoon is open to complete appointments, finalize plans, and check off items on the new student “to do” list.  Students can get their picture taken for their Topper Card, see their residence hall room, ask questions about course schedules and finalize financial aid.
