Dining Information

Dining Locations

Aladdin Dining is our dining services vendor.  They manage the Bear’s Den Cafeteria, located in Rogers Hall, as well as our retail options on the first floor of the College Union.  Those retail locations include Bear Necessities, We Proudly Serve Starbucks, Chilaca, and We Burg.

Classic Plans (Residential Meal Plan options)
The Classic Plans are the three full meal plan options.  These are all the same cost, and are required of all undergraduate students in residence halls.  They are also an option for commuter students.
  • All Access4U: This plan offers unlimited meals in the Bears’ Den cafeteria for the student who owns the plan.  There are two meal exchanges available daily in the college union retail locations.  Additionally, the  student will have $100 per semester of dining dollars.
  • 14 Flex Plan: This plan will still offer 14 meals per week and $200 dining dollars per semester.  However, there will now be no restrictions on the number of meals per day or period except for the limit of two meal exchanges daily in the retail locations.  For example, a student can use a meal at 7:30am for breakfast in the Bears’ Den, lunch at 11:30am in Chilaca, dinner at 5pm in the Bears’ Den and then a late meal at WeBurg at 7:30pm, all in one day.
  • 12 Flex Plan: This plan will still offer 12 meals per week and $300 dining dollars per semester.  As with the 14 Flex Plan, there are no restrictions on the number of meals per day or period except for the limit of two meal exchanges daily in the retail locations.
  • Additionally, all of these plans allow for 5 guest meals per semester.  This means you can pay for a meal for a friend or family member with one of these five guest meals.
Commuter Plan Options (also available to those students in WLU owned and operated apartments)
  • 75 Block Plan: This plan replaces the 5 meal plan from last year.  It allows the student 75 meals for the semester, to be spaced out as it works for the student.  As with all plans, there is a limit to 2 meal exchanges daily in the college union retail locations.  This plan also has $100 dining dollars for the semester.  The 75 Block Plan is available to anyone living off campus, students in apartments or houses owned or operated by WLU, and graduate students residing anywhere on or off campus.
  • Commuters can select any of the Classic Plans as well.
** Anyone who has already selected a 5 meal plan will automatically be switched to the 75 Block Plan.  If you wish to change your meal plan, you can do so through the housing portal (even if you are a commuter).  If you have previously selected the 50 block plan that was available last year, we will be contacting you directly to select your new plan.

 Residential Students

  • Undergraduate students in any apartments or houses are permitted to have a 75 block meal plan instead of one of the full meal plan options (12, 14, or All4U).
  • Graduate students are not required to have a meal plan regardless of their residential facilities.
  • Undergraduate residential students in residence halls are required to have a full meal plan (12, 14, or All4U meal plan). The only exception must be approved through ADA accommodations, which can be submitted to the housing office. (westliberty.edu/residence-life/accommodations)

Additional Information

  • For residential students, leftover dining dollars will rollover from fall semester to spring semester. They do not rollover from one academic year to the next.  They also do not rollover for commuter students, as they are not automatically assigned a meal plan each semester.
  • Meal swipes do not rollover each week. So, for example, if a student has a 14-meal plan and only uses 12 meals, they do not have an additional 2 meals the following week.
  • The meal plan week is Sunday through Saturday. So, for example, 14 meal plan students can utilize 14 meals from Sunday through Saturday.

What are “Dining Dollars”?

This money is a declining balance on your Topper Card that can be used in any Aladdin location.  This includes the Bear Necessities, We Proudly Serve Starbucks, Chilaca, We Burg , and the Bear’s  Den.  Dining Dollars can also be used in food vending machines throughout campus.  Dining Dollars can be used through the student’s Topper ID Card.

Dining Dollars will carry over from fall semester to spring semester for residential students who live on campus both semesters. At the end of the spring semester, any remaining dollars are forfeited.  Dining Dollars are not carried over for commuter meal options.

Topper Dollars

Topper Dollars consists of money that you add to your account. This can be done easily online through an eAccount.  You can add money to this account at any time.  Topper Dollars can be utilized at any Dining retail location or in the Marketplace.  Additionally, Topper Dollars can be used in the Bookstore, Subway, most vending machines, all laundry facilities, and for Library fines.

College Union Retail locations

Retail locations include Bear Necessities, We Proudly Serve Starbucks, Chilaca, and We Burg.  In these locations, students are able to use their meal plan for part of their meal. Both lunch and dinner have a specified “meal exchange amount” ($6.25 for all retail locations). The remaining cost of their purchases can be paid with Dining Dollars, Topper Dollars, cash, or credit/debit card.  For example, if a student buys $7.00 worth of food at We Burg, they can use their lunch meal to pay for the first $6.25; then they can pay the remaining seventy-five cents with their Dining Dollars.

Bear’s Den Carryout Options

During any meal in the Bear’s Den students are permitted to ask for “to go” boxes from the cashier when you enter the Bear’s Den, instead of dining there.  If students have already eaten in the Bear’s Den, they are not permitted to take “to go” boxes as well unless they are on the unlimited meal plan. Students are not permitted to use their own food or beverage containers to take any item from the Bear’s Den for sanitary purposes.
