Storage Agreement

West Liberty University is not responsible for any of the items placed in the designated storage areas of the university.  WLU is not liable for any damage that results from fire, flood, vandalism, or other destructive forces or events.  WLU is not responsible for theft or loss of any stored items.  All items placed in storage are done so at the students’ risk.  No exceptions will be made to this liability clause.  Items stored for summer storage should only be those items that will not be needed throughout the summer months, as access will be limited during this time.  Students must label each item stored with a label that adheres to the item stored.  Items left in storage past the storage period will be disposed of as designated by WLU Housing & Residence Life staff.  Items that may be stored include: Mini-refrigerators, no more than three boxes of boxed items, furniture items, microwaves, etc.  WLU advises students not to store personal items, expensive items, or electronics in storage areas.  WLU staff may limit the number of items students store in the storage facility.

Students will be permitted to store their personal property in apartments, if they are assigned to the same apartment in the following year.  All personal items must be in closed boxes or plastic bins and left neatly stacked in a closet within the apartment.  Boxes cannot block or impede access or egress.  All items should be identified as items to be stored. and be labeled with the name of the resident who is in possession.  Additionally, apartments are still expected to be cleaned for safety purposes prior as part of the move out process.

Students in apartments not returning to the same apartment, or in residence halls, may be approved for storage in one of the common area storage facilities.  Storage will be limited in these locations to no more than two small furniture items (i.e. refrigerator, chair, microwave, etc.) and three closed plastic bins or boxes.  All items must be labeled with the name of the resident who is in possession.

For items stored in any campus location, the owner of the property will assume the risk of damage or loss of items.  The University is not responsible for loss or damage to any personal property left in storage locations.

Questions can be directed to residencelife@westliberty.edu or (304)336-8345.
