There are many reasons your FAFSA may have been rejected by the U.S. Department of Education’s Central Processing System (CPS). Please review the reasons by reading the comment section of your FAFSA Student Aid Report. If your rejection was due to an unusual circumstance, please complete the Dependency Override Form to be reviewed by our Financial Aid Office.
Perhaps you were selected by the U.S. Department of Education for verification of your FAFSA or you answered yes to a dependency question that requires additional documentation. In these cases, additional forms are required.
As part of our review process, tax documentation may be required. The easiest way to provide the information is to utilize the IRS Data Retrieval Tool on the FAFSA. Other options are to request a Tax Return Transcript from the IRS or submit a signed copy of the student’s (and spouse if married) and/or parent(s)’ federal tax return.
When changes to pertinent data elements are made to your FAFSA, schools are required to review the information. Typically, we need tax documentation to resolve conflicts but we may also need a statement from the student or parent(s). Our Financial Aid Office will reach out via email if there are additional specific items needed.
According to information from your FAFSA, you have received a federal Pell grant and/or federal loan at multiple schools within the past four academic years. We will compare your information on the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) to your official academic transcripts. We will reach out via email if additional information is needed.
Your FAFSA was flagged by the U.S. Department of Education due to issues with past Pell grants and/or federal loans. Our Financial Aid Office will review your information on the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) and reach out to you via email if any documentation is required.
