Tour Information

Summer tours will be offered on a limited schedule beginning the week of May 13th. Click here to view our calendar.

We only tour one family at a time unless otherwise requested, please call the number below to register multiple students.  Visits consist of a campus tour conducted by one of our student ambassadors and a wrap up meeting with an Admissions Counselor. Faculty, athletic, and additional meetings are available but subject to faculty/staff availability. Please allow at least two hours for your visit to fully experience all that West Liberty has to offer.

Due to our high volume of visits we will not be accepting “walk-in” tours, so please register for your tour in advance by using the link under “Schedule a Tour.”

To attend one of our visit day programs, check out “Admissions Events.”

Admissions Events

Attend an Admissions event on campus and you will be eligible to win a $1,000 scholarship. Admissions Events are designed to give prospective students and their families an opportunity to learn more about WLU.

Zoo Science Tours

For the best tour experience for prospective Zoo Science students, we encourage you to schedule a campus tour on Mondays at 1:00pm to best see the animals, facilities and talk with faculty. After your campus visit, allot time to tour the Oglebay Good Zoo located just 4 miles from campus.

When selecting your major, please note that WLU offers majors in Zoo Science with tracks in Zoo Science, Applied Conservation and Marine & Aquarium Science through the College of Sciences. Additionally, Zoo Management is offered through the College of Business for students interested in operations.

Tour Parking

When you arrive on campus you will report to Shaw Hall. Enter the campus through the main gate and it is the brick building with white pillars located directly in front of you. You may park to the left of this building. There are signs for tour parking or visitor parking. You will then cross the street and use the side entrance of the building. Our reception area will be to your left when you enter where we will give you a permit for parking.

Plan Your Visit

The journey of a lifetime starts with your first visit to West Liberty, where you will be greeted by a warm and inviting tree-shaded campus full of excitement. Take a look around, ask questions, grab a bite to eat or schedule an appointment with the Admissions Office for a detailed tour. Nothing provides you with insight about a campus like a visit. Whether you have come to our campus to participate in one of our campus events, are considering making West Liberty part of your academic future, or are here to simply cheer on the Hilltoppers to another victory, you have landed in a special place. West Liberty University is steeped in tradition with a welcoming network of student, faculty, staff and alumni all working together to create an ideal living and learning environment.

West Liberty is located in the serene mountains of West Virginia’s northern panhandle, yet only an hour from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with shopping, attractions and professional sports teams: Pirates Baseball, Steelers Football and Penguins Hockey. Oglebay Park is a local attraction just five miles from campus featuring championship golf, skiing, a zoo, a planetarium and more.  Also a short drive away is The Highlands, a shopping, dining and entertainment complex in Wheeling, West Virginia.
