If you haven’t received your estimate letter, you may contact our office for a timeline.
Here are some things to keep in mind before we can send a Financial Aid Estimate Letter:
-You must be accepted and complete the FAFSA.
-West Liberty University starts sending Financial Aid Estimated Letters mid-December of your Senior Year of High School.
-It usually takes 10-14 business days to process financial aid after any additional, required documentation is received.
Accepting my Financial Aid
Once you have received your Financial Aid Estimate Letter, you will need to accept the financial aid that you would like to apply to your account by signing and returning the letter to the Financial Aid Office. This will allow us to apply the accepted aid to your account for processing at the beginning of the semester. Some of the financial aid may have additional steps before it will apply to your account.
– Student Loans – If you are a first time borrower at West Liberty University, you must complete Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note before your loans will pay to your account. You can complete those by visiting the Federal Student Aid website and signing in with your FSA ID (the same username and password you used for the FAFSA).
– Work Study – In addition to accepting your work study funds to allow you to have a job while you are a student as West Liberty University, you will also need to apply for a job that interests you. You can apply for jobs online and find more information about student employment here.
Need Additional Aid
Sometimes students need additional funding to help cover the costs of attending West Liberty University. There are a few options to help with this.
West Liberty University works with multiple Alternative Student Loan companies annually. We offer a preferred lenders list here. You are not required to use one of companies or banks listed, this is merely just a starting point for our students.
West Liberty University also participants in the Federal Parent Plus Loan option for our dependent students and parents. This is a credit-based loan in one of the student’s parent’s name. Parents can apply online.
Understanding your Statement
Student statements are sent before the beginning of every semester to the student’s West Liberty University email account. Statements will list a balance due or a refund due to the student.
If a parent would like to receive a copy of the statement as well, please complete the Financial Information Release Form on the Business Office website.
Balances are due 10 days prior to the start of each semester,
Paying your Bill
Your financial aid will be disbursed 10 days prior to the start of school. You will see your financial aid available on your statement you receive from the Business Office. You will not see it apply to your WINS account until 10 days prior to the start of school per federal regulations.
West Liberty University does have a payment plan available for students that need to break up the balance over a 5 month period for the semester. Please visit the Business Office website to set up your payment plan today. Please keep in mind that you must set up a plan each semester, as it does not carry from semester to semester.
