Financial Aid Terms and Conditions
Our Financial Aid Team is available to help make the financial aid process as easy and transparent as possible. Please find below your financial aid terms and conditions as well as some important financial aid policies and procedures.
To be eligible for financial aid at West Liberty University, you must meet certain federal, state, institutional, and program requirements. The Financial Aid Office is responsible for monitoring your compliance with these regulations. WLU’s financial aid policies, procedures and expectations on this webpage are outlined to help you understand and comply with the necessary requirements. You are responsible for reading, understanding, and agreeing to these terms and conditions before accepting your financial aid. If you have any questions, please contact our office.
New students, who have not yet enrolled at West Liberty University, will recieve their financial aid estimate letter in the mail to the mailing address we have listed in our system. In future years, returning students will recieve an email notifitaion to their WLU email address when their financial aid estimate letter is ready to be reviewed in their WINS account (student portal). All aid is awarded for the fall and spring terms only, unless otherwise stated on the estiamte letter. All finalized awards, with the exception of student employement, are paid to the student’s account and deducted from the total charges, assuming all requirements are met and the student is registered for the minimum number of credits required for the award. Loans listed on the financial aid esitmate letter are paid to the student’s account after reciept of a properly completed master promissory note and entrance counseling. NO OFFERED awards are paid to account and typically need some type of student attention.
Please note that addtional reciept of scholarships and grants not listed on the fincancial aid estimate letter may result in and adjustment to your aid package dependong your other awards and your cost of attendance (COA). This may be a result of WLU reserving the right to adjust awards in accordance with WLU, Federal and State policies. Certain changes to enrollment status may also impact financial aid awards. When a student changes their enrollement intensity (i.e. full time to part time, or less tha part time, etc.) their financial aid will be adjusted accordingly based on policy. Students who are recipients of fiancial aid and plan to withdraw may have adjustments or cancellations of aid completed based on the official/unofficial withdrawl date determined by the Registrar Office. This adjustment of aid is considered a Return to Title IV, and is a federal requirement with the policy listed below.
All financial aid awards are considered final, however should a family’s financial circumstances change during the academic year, WLU’s Financial Aid Office should be contacted outlining this special circumstance for possible adjustements. Additional forms along with statements and documentaion are required.
