All West Liberty Degree Programs participate in a 5-year review process. Per WV Higher Education Policy Commission Series 10, reviews are approved annually by the WLU Board of Governors and submitted to the HEPC. The University Assessment and Accreditation Committee is responsible for in-house evaluation of program review assessment updates.
Regionally accredited and non-accredited programs are included and requirements vary slightly. Both include summary documents, but accredited programs provide documentation of current accreditation status. Non-accredited programs provide a detailed assessment update that is evaluated by the Assessment and Accreditation Committee. The Committee encourages and supports the development of programmatic assessment and provides suggestions and recommendations.
The Department Chair or Program Director is responsible for the completion of all program review documents. A faculty assessment coordinator may be designated to assist with academic program assessment in some non-accredited programs. In these cases, the coordinator is typically responsible for the completion of the assessment update.
The spring 2020 program review submissions include: Biology, Dental Hygiene, English, Nursing, and Speech Pathology and Audiology.
Degree programs are reviewed in a five-year cycle and spring 2021 Program Review includes: Chemistry, Creative Art Therapy, Digital Media Design, Elementary and Secondary Education, Psychology, Theater, and Visual Communication Design.
