Melanie Cheek
Melanie Cheek is a lifelong resident of Brooke County, West Virginia. She graduated from West Liberty State College in 2006 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. She worked for a time at West Liberty before returning to School in 2011. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Athletic Training, from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania.
After an internship at West Liberty University, she accepted a position at Southpointe Chiropractic and Fitness. While there she worked with athletes of all ages and sports. She specialized in soft tissue work and rehabilitation.
Melanie accepted a position at West Liberty University in the fall of 2016. She currently covers the volleyball, men’s and women’s tennis, golf, track and cross-country teams on campus.
Leanna McMillen
Leanna McMillen was born and raised in Tippecanoe, Ohio, on the family farm with her parents and two older brothers. Being a stand out softball player in high school, she decided to continue her softball career at West Liberty University in 2010. After serious thought, she entered the athletic training program where she had extensive experience at a variety of venues including: women’s soccer, women’s basketball, football, baseball, local high schools, and also an outpatient physical therapy clinic. She successfully obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Athletic Training in 2016 as part of the first graduating class, in athletic training, at West Liberty. In August 2016, Leanna began pursuing her Master of Arts Degree in Sports Leadership and Coaching through West Liberty. She also serves as a graduate assistant, with her time split between the athletic training department and being an assistant softball coach.
Leanna is very excited to see what opportunities come her way in the next few years with softball and athletic training alike.
There are graduate assistantships available for graduate students who are pursuing a graduate degree at West Liberty University.
