WV Higher Education Policy Commission (HEPC) requires all state institutions of higher learning to continuously review academic degree programs in a five-year rotation to assess viability, adequacy, necessity, and consistency with mission.

The University Board of Governors (BOG) evaluates programs under review annually in the spring semester.  The Assessment and Accreditation Committee is responsible for oversight of assessment of student learning in program review, and provides the BOG with formal recommendations.   Board approval and/or recommendations for improvement, along with a Program Review Summary are submitted to the HEPC  in May.
