West Liberty University is offering area residents a unique opportunity to take an undergraduate college course, free of charge.
Anyone with a high school diploma or GED equivalent who is not currently enrolled at any college or university, does not already possess a bachelor’s degree and is at least 23 years of age may enroll in WLU’s “Try College” Program for the spring 2012 semester, which starts on Jan. 17.
Individuals meeting the above requirements can enroll in one undergraduate class free of charge this semester. All tuition and fees will be covered by an institutional grant. Books and any supplies would be the student’s responsibility, however. Interested individuals participating in “Try College” will be considered special, non-degree students. A student who decides to enroll as a regular student in later semesters would need to reapply as such, submitting transcripts, immunization records, transfer clearance forms and any other required documentation.
Courses will be offered at the West Liberty Highlands Center. Potential students may be able to register for a course on the main campus in West Liberty if space is available. Seats are limited and will be filled on a first come basis. All course prerequisites must be met.
Registration may be accomplished online at westliberty.edu. The spring class schedule can be accessed on the Registrar’s Office web page under “Course Schedules”. For more information, call Sara Sweeney, campus manager at the Highlands Center, at (304) 217-2801.
