WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Nov. 25, 2014 — Wheeling resident Tim McCabe was recently selected as the recipient of the Wallace Scholarship at West Liberty University. The presentation was made at 5 p.m., Monday, Nov. 24, at the Highlands Center campus.

McCabe is enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership and Administration (BLA) degree program and has a 4.0 GPA in the program. He expects to graduate in August 2015.
“We are pleased to offer Tim this award. He is a hard working student and has a busy family life. Even though his duties are many, he is focused on earning his degree,” said Dr. Thomas Michaud, dean of the School of Professional Studies, located at the Highlands Center.
McCabe is a student in the tenth cohort of the BLA program. He is a resident of the Dimmeydale neighborhood of Wheeling and is married to Amanda Jones McCabe. They are the parents of nine children, age 7 months to 16.
“Dr. Michaud has been so supportive and this opportunity means a lot to me and my family. I’m grateful for the scholarship and thankful for the generosity of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace,” said McCabe, whose future plans include owning his own small business.
He is active in his church, St. Michael Parish, and coaches grade school athletic teams.
McCabe also plans to continue his education with WLU and enter the Master of Professional Studies in Organizational Leadership degree program after he completes his BLA.
The $500 Wallace Scholarship is presented biannually and is supported through a gift from the Carol and Terry Wallace Fund for Education. The award recognizes the work of adult students, who often face challenges in scheduling classes around a work schedule, family and other duties. This is third time it has been awarded.
Residents of Bellaire, Ohio, Carol and Terry Wallace have worked in and supported higher education throughout their professional careers.
WLU’s School of Professional Studies offers the BLA and other degrees such as the Regents Bachelor of Arts degree that are designed to serve the adult student who needs a flexible and accelerated schedule.
New sessions of the BLA begin in February 2015 at both the Highlands Center and at West Virginia Northern Community College, New Martinsville, W.Va. Students may enroll for all sessions now by calling the Highlands Center at 304-217-2800.
