University Realigns Institutional Advancement Office to Reach Institutional Goals

October 4, 2012 By Maureen Zambito

West Liberty University Vice President of Institutional Advancement Jason Koegler has announced a change in titles and duties in the development and marketing departments to reflect West Liberty University’s institutional focus.Angela Zambito-Hill

“In keeping with President Capehart’s vision for a great university, we want to make the development and marketing efforts as efficient as possible while enhancing our customer service. These changes will strengthen our office and make our work more successful,” Koegler said.

Angela Zambito-Hill has been appointed director of development. Zambito-Hill was formerly the director of major gifts at the University. She joined WLU in March 2010 as a development officer and advanced to the position of major gifts in 2011.

Her responsibilities have included engaging individual donors, corporations and foundations in fundraising efforts to support the University. In her new position, she remains responsible for fundraising efforts but is taking on supervisory duties of three employees.

Prior to joining West Liberty, Zambito-Hill was a fundraiser for the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston, coordinating the statewide development campaign for Catholic Charities of West Virginia. Before that, she worked in Wilmington, N.C., as a marketing researcher for Inclinix, a clinical trial company.

Zambito-Hill earned Bachelor of Arts degrees in both French and history from Wheeling Jesuit University in 2005. She is on the board for the Museum of the Ohio River and is a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph Heath and Wellness Foundation Board. She also is a member of the Oglebay Institute Museum Committee. She resides in Wheeling with her husband, Chad.
Tammi Secrist
Tammi Secrist has been named the director of marketing and special events. In her new role Secrist will oversee the University’s marketing, image and branding efforts as it pertains to enrollment growth and fundraising efforts in addition to serving as chief coordinator of University fundraising, alumni and campus special events.  She also serves as supervisor of the WLU publications coordinator and is now responsible for supervising one employee.

Secrist has spent more than 16 years working in the marketing and communications fields. Prior to her time at West Liberty, she served as vice president of marketing at the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce, director of marketing for The Goodman Company and the Cafaro Company, both leaders in the shopping center development industry and in sales with the Walt Disney Company.

Secrist earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis on advertising and marketing and a minor in graphics design from Bethany College where she graduated with distinction.

In addition to her professional experience, Secrist has served as a member of numerous boards and professional associations including Council for the Advancement and Support of Higher Education, National Association of Professional Women, the Wheeling YWCA Board, National Road Alliance Board and OV Connect Board of Directors. She resides in Wheeling with her husband, Curt, and their children Joey and Charolette.

Both Zambito-Hill and Secrist report directly to Koegler.
Stefanie Trouten
Stefanie Trouten has been named director of annual giving. Trouten joined WLU in August 2010 as a communications officer before advancing to the position of director of marketing. In her new role, Trouten will be in charge of the annual campaign.

Reporting directly to Zambito-Hill, Trouten’s primary responsibilities will now include raising funds through the methods of a phone campaign and supporting the overall efforts of development efforts of the university.

Trouten has over seven years working in the marketing and fundraising fields in the Wheeling area. Prior to her time at West Liberty, she was director of marketing at Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration. Before that she spent five years at the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce as the director of marketing, where she coordinated all internal and external communications while building relationships with members of the Ohio Valley community.

Trouten earned a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in communication from Bethany College and a Master’s of Science degree in integrated marketing communications from WVU in 2008. She is a former board member of the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley and was a founding member of OV Connect’s young professionals group. She resides in Martins Ferry, Ohio with her husband, Philip, and their daughter Claire.
