West Liberty University President Robin C. Capehart has been recognized for his business acumen with selection for the 2013 Who’s Who in West Virginia Business. The announcement was made today at a special luncheon, held in Charleston, W.Va.
“I’m flattered to be included in the State Journal’s Who’s Who in Business. Since I became president of West Liberty in 2007, I’ve been working to transform West Liberty from a good college into a great university. We have accomplished much over the past six years and it is my hope that by working together, our campus will achieve our goals in higher education, which in turn, will benefit the state of West Virginia,” Capehart said.
Since 1993, The State Journal has highlighted business leaders as being worthy of being classified as a “Who’s Who.”
Specifically, the award highlights the brightest and best business leaders in the state who work diligently to grow their companies, give back to their communities and represent all that is good in the Mountain State.
This year’s class joins 179 businesspeople, educators and other who keep West Virginia running. They’ve come from Martinsburg in the east to Chester up north, from Huntington to the west and Bluefield down south. In between honorees have been from the larger cities such as Wheeling, Weirton, Charleston, Morgantown and Beckley and also from smaller communities such as Follansbee, Moorefield, Sistersville and Crab Orchard.
Their backgrounds are varied, but they have some things in common. They could have played it safe, but they struck out on their own and succeeded. They have made a difference. They have changed their communities or the state by their work or by giving back to their neighbors.
They have stories to tell, of taking over a family business or starting something from scratch, of overcoming obstacles or filling a need few other people even knew existed.
