WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Aug. 19, 2016 – West Liberty University welcomes students to campus with a variety of activities to make it a smooth transition from home to Hilltop. New students move-in on Friday, Aug. 19, and other students return on Saturday, Sunday, Aug. 20 – 21.
Housing and Student Life staff coordinates Topperfest activities, a two-week extravaganza of events designed to welcome students to West Liberty University and get them acclimated to campus through both informative and entertaining events.
This year’s theme is Topper Pride with events and activities planned to encourage school spirit.
These events give new students the chance to interact with each other and jump-start the friendships that will last a lifetime. Topperfest will begin with the President’s Picnic from 11-2:30 p.m., Friday, August 19 located at Colonial Heights, the home of WLU’s president Dr. Stephen Greiner and his wife, Nancy.
It sits on a scenic hillside just above Faculty Drive.
A sampling of Topperfest events include:
- 9 p.m., Friday, Aug. 19, comedian performs in College Union
- Saturday, Aug. 20, CLASSES BEGIN at Highlands Center campus
- 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 20, Topper Wars on the Quad, dorms compete for prizes
- 9 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 21, Movie on Quad
- Monday, Aug. 22, CLASSES BEGIN on main campus
- 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 23, Commuter Lounge open house
- 9 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 24, hypnotist performs in College Union
- 7 – 10 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 25, Blast from the Past, College Union
- 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 31, Organizational Fair on Quad
- 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 2, bonfire, s’mores, music and more on Quad
