West Liberty University is seeking an academic dean to provide effective leadership in the Gary E. West College of Business, which includes the Department of Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems and the Department of Management and Marketing. Academic disciplines in the College include accounting, computer information systems, economics, entrepreneurship, finance, general business, health services management, management, marketing, sports management and tourism and event management. This is a full-time, twelve-month administrative position with limited teaching responsibility and with participation in scholarly activities.
The successful candidate must have a minimum of five years of recent teaching and three years of academic administrative experience in higher education and a thorough knowledge of assessment. A terminal degree within a West College of Business discipline from an AACSB institution is preferred, but other business accredited institutions will be considered. The successful candidate must have a thorough knowledge in the areas of undergraduate and graduate collegiate business education, excellent human relations skills, experience at the academic department-chair level within West College of Business disciplines (or comparable academic administrative experience), and the ability to effectively manage the operations of the College. Administrative responsibilities as Dean include leadership in the areas of assessment, operational administration/finances and budgeting, curricular development, faculty development, articulating the University’s strategic vision/mission, and student academic experiences, including student advisement. Other important responsibilities include leadership in student recruitment and retention, fundraising, and fostering effective community and public relations. The Dean serves as the College’s internal and external representative and as the liaison between the faculty/department chairs, Provost and President. This position reports to the Provost. Salary is dependent upon the applicant’s credentials and experience. This position includes a comprehensive benefit package.
Anticipated starting date: July 1, 2015.
