This guide will walk you through the initial steps to login to your WLU Microsoft account and into the WLU SSO portal for the first time.
WLU Microsoft Login
To begin, we’ll login to Microsoft.
Goto: https://login.microsoftonline.com
WLU IT Recommends starting this process on a laptop or desktop computer.
Your username is your full email address. If you’re having trouble logging in, please reach out to Information Technology by submitting a ticket, emailing, or calling us. We will reach out as soon as possible.
The ticket system link can be found here: https://westliberty.edu/helpdesk/
When signing in for the first time, you will be prompted to enroll in MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication). You may choose to install the Microsoft Authenticator App or Other Options such as text to a phone number.
Follow the steps in the rest of this guide and on the login page to enroll in whichever option you prefer.
Microsoft Authenticator App Option
To begin, open the Microsoft Authenticator App on your Mobile Device and click on the + (plus sign) icon to add an account.
Choose the following options:
- What kind of account are you adding?
- Work or School account
- Scan a QR Code
Click Next in your browser on the computer.
Now, scan the QR code that appears.
You should see a popup that reads: “The account has successfully been added.”
Clicking next will take you to a page requesting you to enter the number shown on screen into the Microsoft Authenticator App.
After doing so you should be all set to continue logging in!
Mobile Text Authentication
To choose Texting/SMS, select Other Options, then choose Phone.
From here, you will need to enter your phone number and hit Next. After a few moments, Microsoft should send you a text with a verification code.
Creating a New Password and Microsoft Office
After enrolling in MFA, you will be prompted to change your password to something new and secure. Enter your 8 digit birthday for your current password, then enter your new password in the following two fields.
The minimum password requirements are as follows:
- Password must be at least 12 characters long
- Must include the following:
- One Uppercase letter
- One Lowercase letter
- One Number
- One Symbol
- Your password must NOT include your name or Birthday
After changing your password and clicking Sign in, you will be logged into your Microsoft account.
To access your email or other apps online such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, etc. click on the App Launcher.
WLU SSO Login
Navigate to the top menu bar of Westliberty.edu and click on the GO WLU link. You can also go directly to this link: https://westliberty.edu/go-wlu
Or you can go directly to the SSO Portal here: https://westliberty.helloid.com
After clicking the WLU Single-Sign-On button, you will be taken to the landing page. Click on WLU SSO Login.
If you have already logged into Microsoft, you’ll be redirected right into the SSO Dashboard. If you are not currently logged into your Microsoft Account, you will be prompted to Sign In. Your username is your full email address and the password is the same password you created previously in this guide. If you were logged out you will need to perform MFA steps to finish logging in.
