WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., April 4, 2015 — The West Virginia Academy of Science will meet at West Liberty University on Saturday, April 11, 2015. Both oral and poster presentations will be part of the meeting that will take place in the Hall of Fine Arts, Kelly Theatre, College Union and Campbell Hall of Health Sciences.
“The Annual Meeting is an excellent platform for professors and their students to present research to peers. It is also a great environment in which to interact with other professors, students and colleagues from across West Virginia,” said Dr. Roger Seeber, chairman of the host committee. The meeting is open to the public and registration will take place at 8 a.m. The fee is $30 for students and $75 for others.

More than 200 members make up the Academy including college faculty, retired faculty, students and members from outside of higher education, such as the Department of Natural Resources. Seeber serves as treasurer of the academy.
A total of 122 presenters will take part in the academic meeting. Though most of the presentations are for undergraduate work, 15 will be at the graduate level.
Prizes will be awarded for best oral presentation and best poster presentation. The opening ceremony begins at 9 a.m., in Kelly Theatre. Welcoming remarks will be delivered by Dr. Jason Best, president of the Academy, and by WLU Provost Dr. Brian Crawford.
The poster sessions will take place in the College Union, from 11:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. and from 1:15 – 2:15 p.m. Oral presentations are scheduled for 2:30 – 5 p.m., in seven classrooms of Campbell Hall.
The closing ceremony will take place in Kelly Theatre at 5:15 p.m. and will include the presentation of awards, including an “Outstanding Teacher” award.
The West Virginia Academy of Science includes biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, geology, mathematics, mining, physics, psychology and education, history and philosophy of science and social science. Chartered by the authority of the West Virginia Legislature for the advancement of scientific knowledge and the promotion of scientific work in West Virginia, the organization was founded at West Virginia University on November 28, 1924.
