Beverly Burke, Peggy Ferguson, John Giesmann, Donna Howard, Robert “Bo” McConnaughy, Edith “Edie” Milvet, J. Edward Stewart and Ray Tredway were honored with a reception at the Boyle Conference Center, hosted by Interim President John P. McCullough.

“We applaud our colleagues and wish them well as they enter a new chapter in their careers, that of a well-earned retirement from West Liberty. We hope they will remain a part of our extended family of alumni and friends that return to campus often for sporting events, homecoming, concerts and other events,” said Dr. McCullough.

McCullough presented each retiree with a framed certificate detailing their years of service and all employees were invited to attend the festive reception.

Burke, a resident of Wheeling, served for 30 years and at the time of her retirement, her title was senior administrative assistant in Academic Affairs. In addition, she was study abroad coordinator and liaison to the Washington Center for Internships. She also served on the Washington Center advisory board for 17 years.

Stewart, a resident of Wheeling, served for 34 years and at the time of his retirement, was the director of procurement. From 2003 to 2007, Stewart also served for 4-1/2 years as the administrator of the College Union and Auxiliary Services Projects.

Howard, a resident of Bethlehem, served 17 years, beginning her career in financial aid, then worked in the registrar’s office and admissions. Most recently Howard split her time between the International Student Office and the Highlands Center.

Giesmann, a resident of Bethany, served for more 12 years and at the time of his retirement was director of records and reports in West Liberty’s Enrollment Service Center. Prior to that he was director of Institutional Research. He also served as a chair on both the accreditation and student assessment committees.

McConnaughy, a resident of Wheeling, served for 32 years, and for most of that time was Hilltopper head baseball coach. He is a five-time West Virginia Conference Baseball Coach of the Year and West Liberty Hall of Famer. In 2012, he resigned as coach but remained an employee, serving as intramural program director and classified staff liaison.

Ferguson, a resident of West Liberty, served for seven years as an instructor of nursing and has returned to private practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Tredway, a resident of West Liberty, served 36 years on the Hilltop. He was a landscape worker in the maintenance department of the Physical Plant.

Milvet, a resident of Wheeling, served seven years and retired as records assistant and transcript assistant in the Enrollment Service Center.
