West Liberty University’s Social Work Club will present two experts on the subject of domestic violence at noon on Oct. 19 in Kelly Theatre, Hall of Fine Arts. The forum is free and open to the campus community and to the general public.
Associate Professor of Social Work Sheli Bernstein-Goff announced that William J. Ihlenfeld II, U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia, and Chris Frizzell, a WLU graduate who serves as victim witness coordinator for the U.S. Attorney’s office, will address the importance of domestic violence awareness.
“Safety and security is a basic, inherent human right that should be afforded to all people,” Bernstein-Goff said.
“Domestic violence has a devastating emotional, psychological, social, physical and cognitive impact on children, women and men with consequences that can last a lifetime. All those who wish to live without fear and empower themselves, their families and their communities should attend this seminar by Mr. Ihlenfeld,” she added.
