West Liberty University welcomes Dr. Henning Vauth, Marshall University professor, for a piano concert at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, March 7 in Elbin Auditorium, College Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.

“I am thrilled that Henning Vauth, piano professor and coordinator of keyboard studies at Marshall University, will soon be giving his debut recital here at WLU. His beautiful program features pieces by Mozart, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms and Debussy. Dr. Vauth is a consummate pianist, always displaying a wide variety of colors, heartfelt musicianship, and technical fireworks,” said Dr. Gerald Lee, WLU associate professor of music.

Dr. Vauth is assistant professor of piano and coordinator of keyboard studies at Marshall University. He was a Laureate in the Concours Grieg International Competition for Pianists in Norway and IBLA Grand Prize Winner of the International Piano Competition in Italy.

He has performed in such prestigious venues as Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Salle Munch in Paris and Salle Molière in Lyon, France. He holds the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music.

His piano teachers include Nelita True, Nelson Delle-Vigne, and Einar Steen-Nokleberg; harpsichord studies with William Porter. He has given frequent recitals and piano master classes across Europe and in the United States.

The Division of Music at West Liberty University offers undergraduate degrees in music education, music performance and music technology. Among its many ensembles are University Chorus, Wind Ensemble, Chamber Choir, Percussion Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and The Hilltopper Marching Band.
