WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., May 21, 2015 — As West Liberty University’s physician assistant master’s program participated in its second commencement ceremony this spring, it also celebrated its first group of students earning a place of honor in Pi Alpha, the national honor society for physician assistants.

All are graduates or are now enrolled in the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies program at West Liberty.

A resident of Wheeling, Brammer was a member of the first class and graduated in 2014. Shepard and Tsouris are both second year PA students who are finishing their 12-month clinical clerkships and graduate June 26. Shepard is from Wheeling, W.Va. and Tsouris is from Steubenville, Ohio.

The first class of physician assistant students arrived at WLU in the summer of 2012, and on June 29, 2015, the University will welcome its fourth class of PAs.

Pi Alpha is the national Physician Assistant honor society organized for the promotion and recognition of both PA students and graduates.

Membership signifies the inductees’ significant academic achievement and honors them for their leadership, research, community service and other related activities. The society also encourages a high standard of character and conduct among students and graduates.

The Department of Physician Assistant Studies is one of three departments in the College of Sciences, led by Dean Dr. Robert Kreisberg. The other two are the Natural Sciences and Mathematics and the Health Sciences departments.  For complete information on the physician assistant program, please visit westliberty.edu/physician-assistant or call 304-336-5098.
