As you approach mid-term for the Fall Semester, the Financial Aid Office would like to remind you of the new Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy. Federal regulations require that students must be making measureable academic progress towards completion of an eligible degree.
This requires an evaluation at the end of each academic year. All periods of enrollment will be included in the measurement, including terms in which the student enrolled but did not receive financial aid.
The standards below must be met at the end of the Spring Semester in order to receive aid for the following period.
- Freshman and Sophomore Level Students
- Pass 70% of all coursework attempted.
- GPA cannot show a deficit of more than 8 quality points below a 2.0
- Junior and Senior Level Students
- Pass 70% of all coursework attempted.
- Must have an accumulative GPA of 2.0
- Graduate Level Students
- Pass 70% of all coursework attempted.
- Must have an accumulative GPA of 2.5
This policy can be found in full on page 15 of the 2011-2012 West Liberty University Catalog.
