WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Oct. 20, 2018 — West Liberty University students revealed their choice for Homecoming King and Queen today, during a halftime ceremony held at West Family Stadium.

Weirton resident Adam Davis and Martinsburg resident Olivia Kilbane were crowned at the 50-yard line by last year’s king and queen, Jeremiah Ortiz and Desi VanCuren.

The crowning ceremony took place at halftime during the 1 p.m., Oct. 20 Homecoming football game against the West Virginia State University Yellow Jackets. The Toppers won with a score of 36 – 24.

Davis is a junior social studies education major and a special education minor from Weirton, W.Va., he hopes to be a professional education after graduation. Davis represented Kappa Delta Kappa.

Kilbane is from Martinsburg, W.Va. and is a junior elementary education major. She represented Lambda Psi Sigma.

Both students are active in student life and serve as residence assistants.

Voting took place last week and included many festivities as the candidates campaigned for votes.

Also honored at the Homecoming game were the distinguished 2018 Wall of Honor alumni: Anissa Monseau Anderson of New Martinsville, W.Va., David Croft of Wheeling and Zachary Loughman of Wheeling. Each of these alumni received plaques and special honors from WLU President Stephen Greiner.

Anderson is a 1994 graduate of WLU’s Sarah Whitaker Glass School of Dental Hygiene. Croft received a bachelor’s in accounting in 1989 from West Liberty University and Loughman earned a bachelor’s in biology in 2002.

The game drew a crowd despite the threat of rain and included tailgating, the annual parade and a return of the Marching Hilltoppers, led by Band Director Gretchen Pohlman. For more Hilltopper athletic news, visit hilltoppersports.com.
