=Faculty Presented at West Virginia Association for Health, Physical, Education, Recreation, & Dance State Conference=
Dr. Aaron Huffman, Assistant Professor of Health and Physical Education, presented his work entitled Coaching and Leadership: How Leadership Theories Apply in Coaching at the West Virginia Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, & Dance State Conference. In the past fifteen years, Dr. Huffman has served as a basketball coach at the high school, University Division II and College Division III levels. Dr. Huffman’s primary research interests include coaching, leadership, health promotion strategies, and physical education.

=Faculty Conducted Professional Development in High Schools=
Mr. Rick West (Graduate Education Director) and Mrs. JoJo Ullom (Department of Professional Education Chair) participated in professional development for the World Languages teachers from Trinity and Canon-McMillan High Schools. Topics included college requirements for world languages and technology integration in the world languages classroom.

=Instructional Technology Month=
November is the Instructional Technology Month, and our College will be enjoying workshops, competition, and an online showcase gallery from faculty, Technology Teaching Assistants, and students all month long. Everyone is enthusiastically welcome to participate in all the activities. Please see the Event Schedule. Have a fun and technology-enriched month!
Secondary Block Students Offered Educational Stations to Madison Fifth Graders
The 5th graders from Madison Elementary School visited various departments as a part of our 5th grade College visit series coordinated by Ashley Carter in the Admissions Office. Our students from the Secondary “Block” worked with our visitors on various educational stations including inventing, group story telling, aboriginal art, and paper airplane measurement.

=Block Student Taught Kindergarten Pupils 21st Century Skills=
Our Elementary “Block” student, Katelynn Kestner, infused a kindergarten lesson with iPad and Intelliboard. “I provided all 21 of my kindergarten students an iPad. We used the ShowMe app to display our work. I created a program for the Intelliboard to display the current question (numbers 1-10) the students should be working on. I had students come up one by one to record their work on the intelliboard while the rest of the students recorded information on their iPads (display as a tally, number, number word, picture, and ten frame). The students engaged in 21st century skills from technology usage, collaboration, problem solving, and critical thinking,” she said.

=Vote Our Students for the International “Canvas My Campus Contest” Winners=
Our students taking the CEP 463: Leadership in Community Education course have been participating in the International “Canvas My Campus” Contest by Prezi and are selected as Semi-Finalists! The popular vote will decide which team will win this contest. The voting period is from Nov. 4 to 17. Please take a few minutes to pick your favorite Prezi and vote for it: Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, and Group 4. The 10 finalists will be featured on Tilt to raise funding for their ideas. The two universities with the winning Prezis will receive free Prezi EDU PRO licenses for a duration of one year for their entire population of students, staff and faculty. “Thank you so much for your support!” the CEP 463 students said.

=iPads in Action in PE Classes=
iPads have been effectively integrated into our PE classes. The best practices included: conducting a self-assessment on skills; watching a skill video anywhere, anytime; using the Charades app to review using yoga poses; and exploring the yoga apps (e.g., Pocket Yoga, Daily Yoga) collaboratively for routine and extended yoga exercise.
