WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., June 13, 2017 — Three West Liberty University employees received years of service awards from Gov. Jim Justice recently. Thomas Hepburn, Brenda King and Meta Lasch received 35-year certificates and pins at the 2017 Governor’s Public Service Recognition Ceremony, held in Charleston this past May.

- Thomas Hepburn is a resident of Martins Ferry, Ohio and has worked for grounds and maintenance in the Physical Plant for his entire career, where he is a landscape worker.
- Meta Lasch, a resident of Wheeling, is the technical director for Kelly Theatre and has played a pivotal part in all theatre productions for 36 years. Also a 1976 alumna of WLU, she holds a bachelor’s degree in art education for K – 12 and earned a master’s in production design and technology from the University of Pittsburgh.
- Brenda King is executive director of admissions and recruitment in Enrollment Services where she is a supervisor for 11 employees. She is a 1981 alumna with a degree in business administration. She has worked in the admissions department for entire career.
“I congratulate Thomas, Meta and Brenda for their significant contributions to our university, its students and our staff. We are fortunate to have their experience and knowledge available for our students daily,” said Dr. Stephen Greiner, WLU president.

The state of West Virginia awarded 124 employees 35-year awards, along with other awards this year during the observation of National Public Service Recognition Week.
Celebrated the first week of May since 1985, Public Service Recognition Week is organized annually by the Public Employees Roundtable (PER) and its member organizations to honor the men and women who serve our nation as federal, state, county and local government employees.
