President Robin C. Capehart announced the promotion of Stephanie Hooper-Golein to vice president of finance recently. Hooper-Golein previously held the position of controller.
“Stephanie has proven herself an excellent controller and I have confidence in her abilities to take on the role of vice president. Her diligence at overseeing the University’s budget, her willingness to go beyond expectations and to assist in any way possible has allowed us to confidently move forward on many projects,” said Capehart.
“I have a passion for higher education and really enjoy working in academia and at West Liberty University. I am grateful for this opportunity,” she said. Her promotion is effective Aug. 1.
A resident of Wheeling, she joined West Liberty in 2011 and has managed the day-to-day operations of the business office. She was also responsible for preparation and oversight of the annual budget and prepared financial reports for West Liberty University’s board of governors, president and the chief financial officer.
Prior to WLU, she was employed for six years at Compass Group NAD, Charlotte, N.C. a world leader in foodservice management and support services. While at Compass, she was a senior accounting manager with a volume of $650 million and she spent five years in the higher education market as a regional controller and senior accountant for Bon Appétit and Chartwells, subsidiaries of Compass.
From 1999-2004, Hooper-Golein was employed by Wheeling Jesuit University as an accountant at the Center for Educational Technologies, Wheeling, and as a student worker analyzing construction budgets.
Hooper-Golein earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and her Master of Business Administration degrees from Wheeling Jesuit.
She and her husband, Matt Golein, are the parents of two sons, Carsen and Kesler.
