West Liberty University’s Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Alfred de Jaager, will present its festive “Farewell” Concert prior to departing for a musical tour of Spain, at 7 p.m., Friday, May 10.
The performance will take place in the Cathedral of St. Joseph, 13th and Eoff streets, Wheeling, and is open to the public. The program will consist of songs the choir will perform while on tour in Spain, May 12 – 21, and will include both sacred and secular compositions.
“We are performing a varied repertoire during our European tour. We’ll start in Barcelona, then perform in Valencia and end in Madrid. While in Madrid we will also visit Toledo. There will be one formal concert in each of the three main cities,” said de Jaager, who is director of choral activities.
In addition, the choir will perform an informal, 20-minute concert at the famous Sagrada Familia Basilica in Barcelona.
