West Liberty University Executive Vice President and General Counsel John L. Davis has announced the promotion of Thomas A. Hostutler to the rank of captain in the WLU Campus Police department.
Hostutler started his career at West Liberty in 1978. He has served as a lieutenant, the department’s lead officer for some time. Having assumed additional leadership responsibilities in recent years, he now is the supervisor of the department.
Davis, who oversees the Campus Police function, stated, “Tom has great police instincts, a solid work ethic, and a strong commitment to the safety of the campus community, particularly the safety of our students. He identifies problems and solves them, usually before many administrators even know a problem existed. He’s done a good job here for a long time. We rely on him.”
West Liberty Department of Campus Police is dedicated to providing excellence in service to the campus community, as it provides 24-hour-a-day patrol to the grounds, parking lots, residence halls, academic buildings and the faculty housing area.
