Artist Greg Spalenka will be conducting his “Artist as Brand” workshop on April 26th in the Paul N. Elbin library on the campus of West Liberty University. The 10 hour workshop is free and open to University students, faculty and community members. There is room for 25 attendees and anyone interested in participating can register by emailing or calling Brian Fencl at bfencl@westliberty.edu or at (304) 336-8433. The workshop will run from 10AM to 8PM with breaks for lunch and dinner.
According to Spalenka the “The foundation of this work is what I call your core virtue. Your core virtue is an integral part of who you are. You’ve been living it all your life, but most people don’t know how to define it,” he said. “Ultimately it’s about knowing who you are, and believing in yourself.”
With this foundation in place, Spalenka says he can help artists define their creative goals, and create their own unique art empire.
Greg Spalenka has won numerous awards from the Society of Illustrators, worked as a concept designer on feature CG animated and live action films such as The Ant Bully, The Golden Compass, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. and the soon to be released Escape from the Planet Earth. He has lectured or taught at Kendall College, San Francisco Academy of Art, Art Center College of Design, Rhode Island School of Design and is an annual contributor to ComicCon in San Diego.
“Ultimately, the goal is to create empowered artist entrepreneurs,” said Spalenka. “I’m encouraging a new model of art sustainability.”
