Practicum site: Students complete their practicum course reqirements in the on campus West Liberty University Behavioral Health Clinic.

Clinical Practicum students work with therapy and assessment clients under the close supervision of a WV licensed clinical psychologist. Students spend approximately 20 – 25 hours a week in the clinic (unpaid), to prepare them for work at an external internship site (paid) in their third year of the program.

Internship sites: Students complete their internship course requirements at a WLU approved off campus location under supervision of a WV licensed clinical psychologist. Students receive assistance in locating an appropriate internship site, however students are required to apply to individual sites and placement at a specific location is not guarenteed. As part of the internship, students are granted a “gold card”, which permits clinical psychology practice under supervision. This also means that the internship site is able to bill for the internship student provided services, thus the internship is paid.  The interns salary and work days/times are negotiated between the internship student and the internship site. Internship placements are full time (approximately 40 hours per week) starting the Summer of their third year of the program. Internship sites must be in West Virginia and employ a liscesed clinical psychologist. Supervision requirements for clinical psychology licensure are determinted by the West Virginia Board of Examiners of Psychologists
