The College of Liberal & Creative Arts at West Liberty University offers 19 undergraduate programs, 2 masters degree program, 28 minors, and countless opportunities for our students to express their creative side and broaden their critical thinking. Whether students major in one of these programs or pursue a minor to round out their education, they’re sure to come away with new skills and new perspectives.

Programs and majors in this pathway lead to careers in education, journalism, music, professional writing, theater, law, art therapy, social work, criminal justice, visual and media arts and many more.

Departments

Art Therapy and Counseling

If you love art, psychology, and helping people, then you have come to the right place. Browse the site, then make an appointment to browse our facilities, sit in on a class, meet the professors, and/or take in an art therapy gallery show. There is always something happening in the Art Therapy and Counseling department at West Liberty University.

Criminal Justice

Criminal Justice combines aspects of criminal justice, sociology, social work, psychology, history and law. With these skills, you can launch your career in law enforcement, probation, parole, counseling, and law. The Department of Criminal Justice also sponsors the WLU Master of Science in Criminology.

English and Modern Languages

The Department of English and Modern Languages currently offers four majors and seven minors in a variety of areas of study, including English Education, French, literature, Spanish, TESL, and writing.

Humanties and Social Sciences

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences currently offers eight majors and twelve minors in a variety of fields, including geography, history, philosophy, political science, pre-law, religion, and sociology.

With constantly evolving technology, today’s media and communication disciplines are innovative and interdisciplinary.

Music

The West Liberty University Music Program has been accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music since 1972. Our award-winning faculty are active professional performers, researchers, and educators.

Theater

The West Liberty University Theater Program offers a student-focused approach to teaching.  An effort is made to personalize students’ curriculum as much as possible within the (newly approved) Bachelor of Arts in Theater.
