Emmett Boyle is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ormet Corporation. He is also the majority owner and sole director of Ormet Corporation and its subsidiaries. Ormet is the fourth largest primary aluminum producing company in the United States. Ormet was recently ranked as the 199th largest privately held corporation by Forbes Magazine. During his tenure as these companies’ senior manager, Mr. Boyle has employed a strategy of modernization, quality improvements an acquisitions to transform Ormet into a world-class competitive company with quality products and processes.
Mr. Boyle is a skilled entrepreneur who draws from over 30 years experience in the aluminum industry. He came to Ormet as President and CEO in April 1983. Three years later, Ormet’s owners were about to shut down the company and leave the Ohio Valley. The prospect of lost jobs and idle plant and equipment caused Emmett Boyle to form Ohio River Associates, which bought Ormet in 1986. The years following the purchase saw significant capital improvements and employee involvement programs that brought the new Ormet to the forefront of its industry.
Emmett Boyle is a 1962 graduate of Youngstown University, where he received a B.E.M.E. degree. In 1970, he graduated with a M.S. Degree in industrial and systems engineering from Ohio University in Athens. Before entering the aluminum business, Mr. Boyle worked with McDonnell Aircraft in St. Louis, where he participated in the Gemini spacecraft program as a design and development engineer.
Mr. Boyle is on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Chamber of Commerce and currently holds the office of Chairman. He is also director of the West Liberty State College foundation and the American Automobile Association, as well as various local civic organizations. He serves on the Ohio Board of Regents committee that coordinates the education and training needs of Ohio business and industry. Mr. Boyle is a native of Pennsylvania and has lived in the Ohio Valley for over 25 years. His current residence is in St. Clairsville, Ohio in Belmont County.
