The West Liberty University Investment Club (WLUIC) allows students to gain first-hand knowledge of investing in the stock market. Since this is not a simulation, students are managing real money, exposed to real risk, and the club is 100% student led.
The club is the idea of Finance Professor Dr. John Aulerich, who researched investment clubs at major universities before developing this student organization. Dr. Aulerich is the advisor to the club along with several other faculty members. Students are able to develop investment and management skills.
This club controls two separate portfolios. One is the student fund, where students use their own money to buy stocks, and the other is where students manage a portion of the Excellence Fund.
