WEST LIBERTY, W.Va., Sept. 17, 2019 — West Liberty University will celebrate Constitution Day, Sept. 17, with special events for its students, staff and the public.
Commemorating the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787, Constitution Day became an official holiday in 2004, with the help of West Virginia Senator Robert C. Byrd (1917 – 2010).
“We plan on having patriotic games for students, like amendment matching, questions from the Citizen’s Test, Constitution Jeopardy and others. This will all take place from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the College Union so all students have a chance to participate,” said Dr. Brian Fitzpatrick, assistant professor of political science.
Pocket constitutions and patriotic prizes will be distributed.
Professor Fitzpatrick is being assisted in this effort by students in his American Government Class.
