Biography
Sandy is active in academic organizations that enhance the courses that she teaches –
World Civilizations, U.S. History, and WV & Appalachian History. She is a member of the Appalachian Studies Association, the National Council for History Education and the Organization of American Historians. Among her professional achievements are awards for West Liberty University Professor of the Year in both 2010-2011 and 2013-2014.
In Sandy’s leisure time, she enjoys revising test questions and lecture notes. She also loves following teams that wear black and gold – Toppers, Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates. If her teaching career doesn’t pan out, she would like to be a point guard in the WNBA, or assist Ken Burns in documentary film-making.
