Welcome to the West Liberty Political Science program. Political Science is the study of political systems and the relationship between individuals, societies, and political institutions. Political Science covers a wide range of topics including judicial systems, terrorism, and the relationship between politics and the economy. A Political Science major helps students develop the increasingly vital skills of oral and written communication, critical thinking, research, and data analysis and interpretation, helping prepare students for a range of careers in government and the private sector, as well as to continue their education in graduate school. The political science program at West Liberty offers students a wide variety of courses and opportunities such as participating in Model United Nations, study abroad, and the West Liberty Political Science club.
“I like being a political science major because there are many opportunities to study what is going on in the world today, such as the study abroad Brexit trip.” Charli McConnell, West Liberty Political Science Major
“The majority of law students say their first year is the hardest. Your success depends largely being able to absorb and retain a lot of information at once, analyze problems, think critically about them, and communicate the solutions to those problems effectively to your audience, both orally and in writing. The political science program gave me those skills and has made my first year of law school a breeze.” Heather McIntyre, West Liberty Political Science Major and West Virginia University Law Student
