The WLU History Club is interested in all eras and regions of history, although much of our interest is focused on Medieval Europe. Since history touches upon nearly all facets of life, we welcome all students regardless of their program of study, race, religion, and orientation. As a student club, it is the students’ interests that drive what we do, but our weekly meetings often involve the playing of historical games and/or movies. Special guests frequently teach hands-on workshops for things like chain mail, historical clothing, jewelry, basket weaving, and food. We regularly travel to academic conferences, living history reenactments, local heritage sites, Renaissance fairs, and museums. Last but not least, a significant amount of our time is also spent engaging in the Viking Living History Project (VLHP), directed by Dr. Cox, the club’s faculty advisor. The VLHP is a traveling historical reenactment of the Viking Age.
For more information on when and where the History Club meets, if you are interested in joining, or if you would like to request a visit by the VLHP, please contact Dr. Cox at dcox@westliberty.edu.
