Biography
Angela Rehbein is an Associate Professor of English. Her research focuses on British women writers of the Romantic period (ca. 1780-1830), particularly those who are lesser-known to modern readers despite success in their own time. Her current research considers how representations of women in domestic scenes are shaped by Romantic-era imperialist discourses. Her secondary research interests include postcolonial literature and theory, women’s and gender studies, and contemporary popular culture. In addition to teaching courses in composition, literary theory, British literature, and World literature, she regularly teaches courses for WLU’s Honor’s College, including a seminar on Gender and Popular Culture. She recently co-edited a collection of essays with Liverpool University Press titled Women’s Literary Networks and Romanticism: “A Tribe of Authoresses”. This title is the first in LUP’s new series Romantic Reconfigurations: Studies in Literature and Culture 1780-1850.

Outside of her academic life, Dr. Rehbein is an avid runner, cat lover, and watcher of reality TV. She also plays women’s flat track roller derby with the Ohio Valley Roller Girls.
