P.O.M.P.

The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) has partnered with WLU Department of Biological Sciences to offer highly qualified rising juniors at WLU potential early acceptance to their Pre-Osteopathic Medicine Program, P.O.M.P.

Students must meet the following requirements in order to be eligible for the program:

  • Currently enrolled at West Liberty University
  • Completed their sophomore year
  • Science GPA of 3.4 or higher
  • Must be a U.S. resident or permanent citizen
  • Students must have completed the following courses by the time of application:
    • 8 hours of Biology with Labs
    • 8 hours of General Chemistry with Labs

Students that meet these metrics may apply online, submit their recent transcript, and have a letter of recommendation from a POMP advisor.  The student will then be provided a virtual interview with the admission committee in August or September.

Students who meet metrics and show potential will receive a conditional acceptance to WVSOM.  The final acceptance will be based on the student maintaining a certain GPA, a 500 or better on the MCAT, and other criteria as defined on the WVSOM POMP website.
