30-year-old West Liberty student Jeremy Helms died in an on campus apartment on Thursday, August 26th, 2010.

West Liberty University Campus Police are now heading the investigation following efforts working with local law enforcement, including the Ohio County Sheriff’s Office.  Authorities have determined that no foul play is suspected.

Helms was a senior business major from Follansbee, WV.

“We express our deepest condolences to the family of Jeremy Helms,” said WLU spokesman Reid Amos.  “Rare circumstances such as these are always difficult for a campus community, WLU’s counseling services in the Center for Student Success are available to anyone that might be in need.”

The investigation remains open pending the results of an autopsy.  Further details will be released as warranted as the investigation continues.
