WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — The West Liberty University Dance Team was invited to perform as a special guest at the Wheeling Park High School Dance Team’s Winter Invitational on February 8 at the Wheeling Park High School Performing Arts Center.
The invitational showcased competitive performances from Brooke High School, Wheeling Park High School, Indiana High School, Bridgeport High School, Weir High School, Indiana Junior High School, John Marshall High School, Parkersburg South High School, and Cambridge High School.
As part of the showcase, the WLU Dance Team delivered two featured performances highlighting the group’s versatility and performance range. The team opened with a high-energy game-day routine set to Pitbull’s “I Know You Want Me,” followed by a lyrical routine choreographed to “Exile” by Taylor Swift featuring Bon Iver. The contrasting pieces demonstrated the team’s athleticism, precision, and expressive artistry.
“Our WLU Dance Team brought so much energy and heart to the Wheeling Park Showcase,” said Kate Billings, Director of Student Life. “Their performance was a true reflection of their commitment, teamwork, and love for what they do. It’s amazing to see them represent West Liberty with such confidence and pride.”
“It was such an honor to perform alongside so many talented high school teams,” said Delaney Finsley, Captain of the WLU Dance Team. “We love having the opportunity to connect with younger dancers and represent West Liberty in the community. Performing both our game-day and lyrical routines allowed us to show different sides of who we are as a team.”
The invitation provided the WLU Dance Team with an opportunity to represent West Liberty University while supporting and inspiring high school dancers from across the region. The event further strengthened WLU’s presence within the local performing arts community and underscored the University’s continued commitment to outreach and student engagement beyond campus.
