WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — West Liberty University will highlight its impact on students, workforce development, and communities across the Mountain State during its annual Day at the Capitol, scheduled for Friday, February 27, 2026, at the West Virginia State Capitol from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the lower rotunda.
The event will bring together students, faculty, staff, and state leaders to highlight the University’s role in preparing graduates who are ready to lead, innovate, and serve West Virginia. Through interactive exhibits, demonstrations, and conversations with policymakers, Hilltoppers will share how the “Hilltop Advantage” is strengthening the region and creating opportunities for learners and employers alike.
“West Liberty University is proud to partner with state leaders to build a stronger future for West Virginia,” said President Dr. Tim Borchers. “As workforce needs evolve, West Liberty University delivers graduates who are adaptable, experienced, and ready on day one. Experiential learning is built into our academic programs, from internships and clinical placements to research and community partnerships.”
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet students, faculty, and staff and learn about innovative research, hands-on learning, and partnerships that are making a measurable difference.
West Liberty continues to invest in modern facilities and applied learning opportunities that enhance student success and strengthen the state’s workforce pipeline. Recent initiatives include expanded research opportunities, interprofessional healthcare education, and state-of-the-art aviation training designed to address critical workforce gaps.
Legislators, state officials, and members of the public are invited to stop by the displays and learn more about how West Liberty University is supporting economic growth, community well-being, and educational opportunity across West Virginia.
“I appreciate the work of Delegate Jimmy Willis and WLU Student Government Association President Luke Sweat for their help arranging the event,” said Dr. Borchers.
