WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — West Liberty University will present its 2026 Graphic Design Senior Showcase, “Design Is Now,” on Thursday, April 30, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Artisan Center, located at 1400 Main Street in Wheeling.
The annual showcase highlights the work of graduating graphic design students and, for the first time, brings the exhibition to a downtown Wheeling venue. The event will feature capstone projects and professional portfolios that reflect students’ creativity, technical skills, and growth as visual communicators.
Participating students include Breanna Boogaart, Cheyenne Fillipovich, Morgan Howard, Nevaeh Pulver, and Katie Zoellers.
“This process has been an amazing opportunity to see how much I’ve grown over my college career, as well as seeing how much planning, problem-solving, and how intentional overall planning has to be to create a showcase like this,” said senior Nevaeh Pulver.
Fellow student Morgan Howard added, “This project has been a meaningful opportunity to reflect on my growth over my college career. Working alongside other creative designers has been inspiring and motivating, showing me the dedication and creativity that goes into each individual project. The process has been a valuable learning experience, and it will be incredibly rewarding to have our work represented in this showcase.”
The showcase is organized under the direction of Moonjung Kang, Professor of Visual Communication at West Liberty University.
“This showcase has been something I’ve been hoping to create for years,” said Kang. “In graphic design, it’s important for students to share their work beyond the classroom and connect with a broader community. Bringing the exhibition to downtown Wheeling allows us not only to present the work of participating students in a more open, public setting, but also to share with the community the level of work our students are capable of.”
The event is free and open to the public. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet student designers, explore their work, and engage with the next generation of creative professionals.
West Liberty University’s Art and Design Program, currently known as Visual Communication, offers students the opportunity to explore disciplines including graphic design, digital media and film production, illustration, and studio art while developing professional skills in their chosen field.
West Liberty University blends a small-town environment with a comprehensive college experience, fostering students’ aspirations through hands-on learning, personalized support, and unique academic programs at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
