West Liberty University Announces Spring 2026 Music Events

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — West Liberty University’s Department of Music and Theater is excited to announce its Spring 2026 music events, featuring a variety of guest recitals, faculty performances, student showcases, and concerts open to the public. Events will take place across campus venues including Elbin Auditorium, Interfaith Chapel, and off-campus locations in Wheeling, W.Va.

“Music is at the heart of our campus and our community,” said Dr. Matthew D. Harder, Professor of Music and Chair of the Department of Music and Theater. “This spring’s lineup highlights the incredible talent of our faculty, students, and guest artists, and we are thrilled to invite everyone to experience these performances firsthand.”

Spring 2026 Music Events Schedule:

  • Guest Recital: John Morrison, piano – Friday, January 30, 12:00 p.m., Elbin Auditorium
  • Faculty Recital: Dr. Gerald Lee, piano – Friday, February 13, 4:00 p.m., Interfaith Chapel
  • Music Audition and Shadow Day – Friday, February 20
  • Faculty Recital: Dr. Linda Cowan, mezzo-soprano – Friday, February 27, 4:00 p.m., Elbin Auditorium
  • Music Audition and Shadow Day – Friday, March 20
  • World Music Concert – Friday, April 10, 7:00 p.m., Elbin Auditorium
  • WLU Wind Symphony in Concert – Saturday, April 11, 6:00 p.m., Elbin Auditorium
  • Ursa Major in Concert – Friday, April 17, 8:00 p.m., Waterfront Hall, Wheeling
  • Music Audition Day – Saturday, April 18, 10:00 a.m.
  • Senior Recital: Ken Kittell, piano – Saturday, April 18, 2:00 p.m., Interfaith Chapel
  • WLU Singers Present: Mozart’s Requiem – Saturday, April 25, St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Wheeling
  • Electronica in Concert – Monday, April 27, 5:30 p.m., Elbin Auditorium
  • May Day Music Festival: Ursa Major and other bands – Friday, May 1, WLU Quadrangle (weather permitting)
  • Senior Recital: Mason Stoll, voice – Saturday, May 2, 1:00 p.m., Interfaith Chapel
  • Honors Recital – Sunday, May 3, 4:00 p.m., Elbin Auditorium

“Whether you’re a longtime music lover or a new listener, these events provide an opportunity to experience the breadth and depth of our department’s programs,” added Dr. Harder. “We are especially proud to showcase our students’ achievements alongside our talented faculty and guest performers.”
