West Liberty, W.Va. – September 4, 2025 – West Liberty University Athletics is proud to announce a new partnership with the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley as part of United Way’s Annual Campaign kickoff, set to take place this Saturday during the Hilltoppers’ home football game against Seton Hill University.
Each September, United Way chapters across the nation launch their annual fundraising campaigns to support critical programs and services in their communities. Larger chapters, such as United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania, open their campaigns at venues like Acrisure Stadium during Steelers games. While West Liberty may not host NFL-sized crowds, the Hilltoppers and the local United Way are teaming up to bring the same energy and community spirit to the hilltop.
“We’re proud to partner with the United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley for this important cause,” said West Liberty University Athletic Director Brad Forshey. “Our student-athletes, fans, and alumni know the value of community, and this is a chance to celebrate that while supporting programs that make a difference right here at home.”
Game Day Activities
Fans attending Saturday’s game will notice several exciting initiatives designed to highlight the United Way campaign and bring the community together:
- Team Entrance Through United Way Banner – The Hilltoppers will charge onto the field by running through a United Way sign, symbolizing teamwork and community impact.
- United Way Coin Toss – Representatives from United Way will take part in the pregame coin toss to officially launch the campaign alongside the game.
- 50/50 Raffle – A special raffle will be held during the game, with proceeds supporting United Way initiatives in the Upper Ohio Valley.
- Score for a Cause – Fans will have the opportunity to be selected for a FG opportunity at halftime. Proceeds will support the United Way initiatives in the Upper Ohio Valley.
“We are thrilled to partner with West Liberty University for our 2025–26 campaign kickoff. This collaboration brings together the energy of the Hilltopper community and the mission of United Way to create real impact across the Upper Ohio Valley, said Staci Stephen Executive Director United Way of the Upper Ohio Valley. “Together, we’re showing that when a community unites around giving, we can change lives and strengthen the place we all call home.”
